Anime production studio A-1 Pictures will be adapting Asumiko Nakamura’s Doukyuusei manga into an anime. The series will bring back voice actors,  Hiroshi Kamiya ( Penguin in Shirokuma Cafe ) and Kenji Nojima ( Mamoru Chiba in SailorMoon Crystal ) from the 2008 original drama cd. They will be reprising their roles as Hikaru Kusakabe and Rihito Sajou respectively.

Asumiko Nakamura wrote Doukyuusei for Opera magazine back in July 2006. The chapters were later compiled into a one-volume manga and released in 2008 by Edge Comix.

The story starts off one summer at a rehearsal for a choir festival when Hikaru Kusakabe ( CV: Hiroshi Kamiya ) notices that one of his classmate, the ever reliable intellectual Rihito Sajou ( CV: Nojima Kenji ), was just pretending to sing. After school, he happens to catch Sajou  singing off-key. This led to Kusakabe inviting Sajou to let him teach the music until the festival.

A follow-up series, Sotsugyousei, was completed in 2009. It was later compiled and published by Edge Comix into 2 volumes in 2010.
