At the Free! Eternal Summer Special Event it was revealed that a new movie has been green-lit. High Speed! -Free! Starting Days is the title of the upcoming movie, and it will be based on the story from the light novel. It will focus on the stories of Nanase Haruka and friends during their middle school days. Nobunaga Shimazaki (Ryou Sakurai in Kuroko no Basuke) is confirmed to return for the movie.

Kyoto Animation also confirmed on their webpage that a manga adaptation of High Speed! is in the works. The manga will be illustrated by Shiori Teshirogi (Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas).

High Speed! is a light novel written by Kouji Ouji. It garnered an honourable mention from the Kyoto Animation Awards 2011, and was subsequently turned into an anime, Free!  The anime is loosely based on the light novel and features the story of Nanase Haruka (CV: Nobunaga Shimazaki), and his swimming buddies during their secondary school days. The first season aired on the summer of 2013, and the second season also aired on the summer the following year.

The movie is set to premiere on 5 December 2015.
