Anime series like Shirobako and Bakuman give us a behind-the-scenes look at how tough the anime and manga industries really are,  and it seems that another anime will be letting us get a behind-the-scenes look at the industry. This time, it’s about seiyuus and it’s called Sore ga Seiyuu.

The anime’s official website was updated and it reveals a new key visual (seen in the image above) and a new PV which introduces the anime’s three main characters, Futaba Ichinose, Ichigo Moesaki, and Rin Kohana, all three of whom are seiyuus aiming to make it big in the industry.

Sore ga Seiyuu will follow Futaba Ichinose, the most “plain” of the three protagonists, who according to the video does not even know her own unique traits. Ichigo Moesaki, meanwhile is a new seiyuu dreaming of becoming an idol seiyuu, though she is a bit mysterious as Ichigo Moesaki ain’t even her real name. Finally, Rin Kohana is a bit of veteran in showbiz as she has worked as a child actress since she was 5.

The anime’s official website, Http://Soregaseiyu.Com/, also announced that Gonzo will be animating this new project with Robot Girls Z director, Hiroshi Ikehata, at the helm. Masakatsu Sasaki (Saki) is in-charge of the character designs while Michiko Yokote (Genshiken) will be the one in-charge of series composition.

The anime will be based on the manga written by actual seiyuu, Masumi Asano (Hayate the Combat Butler!’s Risa Asakaze, Psycho-Pass’s Risa Aoyanagi, and Ikki Tousen’s Hakufu Sonsaku), with art by renowned mangaka, Kenjiro Hata, the creator of the Hayate the Combat Butler! manga. Asano is a veteran in the seiyuu industry so expect a whole lot of insider knowledge coming from her in this new anime. The manga is actually based on her observations in the industry, but is a bit more lighthearted than Shirobako and Bakuman.
