Ever wonder what goes on when seiyuus record their voices for various anime? Ever wonder what they do in their free time?

An upcoming anime which takes a peek at the daily lives of seiyuus might answer that. Written by actual seiyuu, Masumi Asano (Hayate the Combat Butler!’s Risa Asakaze, Psycho-Pass’s Risa Aoyanagi, and Ikki Tousen’s Hakufu Sonsaku) and illustrated by Hayate the Combat Butler! mangaka, Kenjiro Hata, Sore Ga Seiyuu may answer a few of those questions, and the second PV for its anime adaptation has just been posted!

Sore ga Seiyuu will follow Futaba Ichinose, the most “plain” of the three protagonists, who according to the video does not even know her own unique traits. She is voiced by newcomer, Rie Takahashi (Shirobako’s Akane Uchida). Ichigo Moesaki, meanwhile is a new seiyuu dreaming of becoming an idol seiyuu, though she is a bit mysterious as Ichigo Moesaki ain’t even her real name. She is voiced by Yuki Nagaku (Medamayaki no Kimi Itsu Tsubusu?’s Aki). Finally, Rin Kohana is a bit of veteran in showbiz as she has worked as a child actress since she was 5. She is voiced by another newcomer, Marika Kouno.

Because the three main characters are “newcomers” to the seiyuu industry, it really does seem like their voice actresses were chosen because they are also newcomers, huh? The trio of Rie Takahashi, Yuki Nagaku, and Marika Kouno, will make up the vocal unit named “Earphones” and will be releasing a new single, “Into Your Ears” this 18 June.

Sore Ga Seiyuu meanwhile is slated to premiere this July 2015 as part of the upcoming summer 2015 season and will be directed by Robot Girls Z director, Hiroshi Ikehata, over at Gonzo. Masumi Asano, one of the series’ creators, is a veteran in the seiyuu industry so expect a whole lot of insider knowledge coming from her in this new anime. The manga is actually based on her observations in the industry, but is considered to be a bit more lighthearted than other “insider” Shirobako and Bakuman. You can watch the first PV here
