The summer heat won’t be getting to us as we would sit back, relax and enjoy the new anime offerings coming our way this July! Here’s what I will be watching!

Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace

Genre: mystery, horror
Date Airing: 3 Jul 2015
Starring : Daiki Yamashita, Takahiro Sakurai and Rie Takahashi
Summary: A mystery shrouding a certain middle school with unexplained murders gets detective Akechi (CV:Takahiro Sakurai) up on his feet. He is off to crack the case with the help from Kobayashi (CV: Daiki Yamashita), who happens to go to the same school as the victims.
Why watch it? From the looks of it, this is not going to be your ordinary detective mystery series, with mysterious deaths, unexplained murders in a middle school. Well, this may not be something new ( *cough* Shiki *cough*), but there’s something about mystery-thriller series that can make our pulse race. Plus, it’s perfect for summer, nothing like a spine-chilling mystery thriller to beat the heat. The series is based on the works of the famed Japanese mystery fiction writer Edogawa Ranpo.

Dragon ball Chou

Genre: adventure , action
Date Airing: 5 Jul 2015
Starring: Masako Nozawa, Ryo Hirakawa, Hiromi Tsuru, Takeshi Kusao, Mayumi Tanaka
Summary: Continuation of the Dragon Ball Z series after the Majin Buu saga ( and probably along the same timeline as the movie – Dragonball Z: Revival of F) .
Why  watch it? This series needs no introduction. Dragon Ball is undoubtedly one we all grew up watching and loving. After some 18 years from the last series- Dragon ball GT (not counting the latest DBZ film or Dragon Ball Kai!), Goku (CV: Masako Nozawa) is back for some new adventure —  to fight off new villains and, of course, develop new superpowers!

Genre: Action,seinen
Date Airing : 2 Jul 2015
Starring: Kenjirou Tsuda, Junichi Suwabe, Aoi Yuuki
Summary: Nick (CV: Kenjirou Tsuda) and Worick (CV: Junichi Suwabe) are known as the “Handymen” and will just do any kind of work  – cases no one would want to get their hands dirty for. One day, their daily lives are rattled when a cop they know has a request for them — to infiltrate and take down a thriving mafia.
Why watch it? It is intriguing to find a pair who will be willing to do anything they’re asked with no questions asked. The two are living in a dysfunctional town where prostitution, drugs, and crimes are rampant. How will the pair survive? What secrets does the town hide? What dark past does the pair have? This might just be the right series to quench our thirst for some good ol’ action.

Ushio to Tora

Genre: Action
Date Airing : 3 Jul 2015
Starring: Daisuke Namikawa, Yuuki Kaji, Yuuichi Nakamura, Tasuku Hatanaka, Rikiya Koyama
Summary: It follows the many arduous battles of Ushio (CV: Tasuku Hatanaka) and Tora (CV:Rikiya Koyama) against the youkai Ushio accidentally unleashed. He must learn to work together with Tora and defeat these monsters before anyone gets in harm’s way.
Why watch it? If you are craving for some youkai slashing swashbuckling adventure, this series is just for you. The anime will trigger some 90’s nostalgia peppered with the same old action, same old story, same old whackiness (It better get a nice 21st century treatment though!).
