Fujiko Fujio’s iconic robotic cat from the future and Sanrio’s iconic “not-a-cat” mascot character finally “meet” each other in a new collaboration, which will feature the two iconic characters of Japanese pop culture in various merchandise.

Over 350 kinds of character collaboration goodies will be released to 50 sub-licensed companies, including various Sanrio stores, specialty stores, online stores, department stores, and several fashion brands. These items will be aimed towards both genders, both young and old alike and will include a variety of goodies, including mugs, T-shirts, bags, notebooks, towels, and many more.
The projected release for some of these items are on the beginning of August 2015, with a special limited-time store opening at the Takashimaya department store in Nihonbashi, Tokyo from 12 – 25 August 2015. Knowna as the “Doraemon meets Hello Kitty at Takashimaya”, the store will feature plenty of the collaboration’s various merchandise.
