Earlier this year, the official Evangelion smartphone was announced to commemorate the 20th anniversary of one of the most groundbreaking anime in history – Neon Genesis Evangelion. More details about this smartphone’s release have finally been revealed, and it certainly won’t come cheap.

According to Japanese tech and gadget website, Endgadget, the official Evangelion smartphone, which has been developed by NTT Docomo, which incorporated input from 30,000 Evangelion fans around Japan, will cost approximately 78,000 yen. Fans can now also pre-order the Evangelion Smartphone starting November 2015.

As the phone received input from the fans themselves, it was revealed that a “simple design with the back inspired by Evangelion Unit 01 is the most popular feature fans have submitted for the phone’s over-all design. A voice interface featuring Asuka Langley Soryuu is also popular, and fans also got to decide the phone’s default ring tones. I’m guessing Cruel Angel’s Thesis on this one.

It is scheduled for release by the end of 2015,which is also the very year when the anime’s story is supposed to take place. The phone also does not require a sim card and will run on an Android operating system.
