20 years ago on 4 October 1995, the entire animation industry, not only in Japan but the entire world, was changed with one mecha anime, a mecha anime called Neon Genesis Evangelion, and several companies in Japan, as well as a few noted individuals, commemorated the mecha anime classic’s 20th anniversary.
Let’s start things off with the official Evangelion website itself as it thanked everyone for 20 years.
In a statement by Evangelion director, Hideaki Anno, the legendary anime director thanked the dedicated staff and fans, to whom Evangelion would never even be possible without. He also thanked everyone for the 20 years of Evangelion.
Lawson, which has partnered with the anime through the years through various promotions, also greeted Eva for its 20th anniversary. They are even giving away special Evangelion Quo cards via a lottery!
The official Evangelion store was celebrating the anniversary as well.
Here are the other greetings for the series:
Ubechoko-kun (mascot character)
Sunstar For Men paid homage to the anime’s controversial final episode
Japanese cinema, Shinjuku Wald 9
HMV anime
Sega
Kagome
Asahi
Lastly, we end with a greeting from the Hakone area, which was the setting for the anime itself.
So from us here at AFA Channel, we would like to congratulate Neon Genesis Evangelion for 20 amazing years! Thank you!
