The bankruptcy proceedings for the beleaguered Japanese animation studio Manglobe (Gangsta., The World God Only Knows, Hayate the Combat Butler!: Heaven is a Place on Earth movie) had formally begun, and it was revealed that the studio is now approximately 544.5 million yen in debt from a total of 237 different parties.

News of the studio’s money woes came into light as animator, Toshio Kobayashi, tweeted about the company’s insolvency, which resulted in his expected income for the next two months to be gone. The tweet has already been taken down, however, his requests for new employment aren’t. Hideto Komori (Hayate the Combat Butler! Heaven Is a Place on Earth director) also tweeted about the matter and said he is now looking into ways to get unpaid wages from a bankrupt company.

The studio filed for bankruptcy last 29 September, the very same day they had shut down, halting the work on the upcoming anime movie, Genocidal Organ. It was set to premiere on 13 November. However, the movie has now been delayed because of the studios shut down and bankruptcy. Fellow Project Itoh movie, Harmony, which was originally set to premiere on December, will have its schedule moved up to Genocidal Organ’s original release date to replace it.
