The Animation Kobe Awards are one of the biggest prizes in Japanese animation, and the their judging committee have just announced the winners for five of their major categories.
These winners will be receiving their awards on 6 December 2015 in a special awarding ceremony in Kobe. These five winners are:
Individual Award: Seiji Mizushima
Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Wooser, and Expelled from Paradise director
Special Award: Yoshikazu Yasuhiko
Mobile Suit Gundam, Gundam Zeta, ZZ, F-91, UC character designer, Gundam the Origin mangaka
Anime Work Award: Shirobako
Anime Work Award: Ghost in the Shell: New Movie
Radio Kansai Award: “JoJo – Sono Chi no Kioku ~end of THE WORLD~” JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders Egypt Arc OP song by JO☆STARS~TOMMY, Coda, JIN~
These five winners were selected by the judging committee, which comprised of industry experts and insiders, most notably the editors of three of Japan’s biggest anime magazines, Animage, Newtype and Animedia. The winners are chosen from works which have been released from September 2014 to July 2015, however, the Radio Kansai Award winners, are picked from anime theme songs which were released from the period of July 2014 to June 2015.
Previous winners of these awards include Hayao Miyazaki, Madoka Magica the Movie 3, Isao Takahata, K-On!!, Eden of the East, Hatsune Miku, Macross Frontier, Fujiko F. Fujio, and many many more.
