When Square Enix announced that they are remaking their classic video game, Final Fantasy VII, which changed the face of the RPG genre, many fans went wild. And during the PlayStation Experience event in San Francisco, California, the video game makers made fans even more hyped by releasing the gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy VII REMAKE.

In another video posted by Sony, Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase talked about the history of the 7th Final Fantasy game, its remake, and the battle system of said remake. He stated that:

“The new game is completely action-based, but it has more of that element and real-time than the previous game. However, what makes Final Fantasy and RPG different from other games is that the players have the ability to choose weapons, capabilities, and magic to be stratgetic-minded, so while the new game has more real-time element, it will also maintain that strategy building element, balancing these two factors perfectly to enhance the gaming experience.”

The official Square Enix website meanwhile revealed in a press release that the game will be split into multiple parts. According to the announcement,

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience.

The remake will first make its debut on Sony’s PlayStation 4, however, no release date has been announced so far. Square Enix also announced that the PS4 port for the original game is now available.
