Former Creative Director of Culture Japan and Founder of Senada Indonesia have teamed up to launch the first ever Japanese snack subscription & delivery service aimed at customers in South East Asia this week in Tokyo.

The service is named Kuubox, after the Japanese word 喰う, a casual term meaning “to eat”. Customers subscribing to Kuubox can expect to receive a surprise box of Japanese snacks, instant meals, tea, and other edibles express mailed to them in the first week of every month. A convenient and automatically recurring payment system makes receiving monthly snacks as simple as any other popular subscription services such as Apple Music or Netflix.
Based in Tokyo where the seasonal Made in Japan products are selected and packed, Kuubox Japan currently ships to Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, with plans to expand to more destinations in the coming months.
When asked about his inspiration for starting Kuubox, the Founder of Kuubox Japan and web development service Senada Indonesia, Samuel Darmento said, “Many of my friends back home love trying out the huge variety of unqiue flavors and seasonal limited edition snacks in Japan, but travelling to Japan can be very expensive. Every time I make a trip back to Indonesia, my friends are asking me to buy some snacks home, so I thought I would put my web development experience to work and created a service that would benefit everyone.”

“I’ve worked with Samuel many times before and he’s a skilled web developer and careful logistics manager. I’m excited to have this opportunity to develop and design the user experience and brand identity for Kuubox.” commented Linus Lim, former Creative Director and Chief Operating Officer of Danny Choo’s Culture Japan. Lim was a central figure in developing the brand identity of the hugely successful Culture Japan brand, Moekana Japanese Learning Series, as well as Smart Doll, alongside Danny Choo.
“It’s like having a birthday every month. I don’t know what surprises I will get, but everything in the box is fun and delicious.” Kuubox beta tester Samantha said.
Kuubox comes in two pricing tiers, Kuubox Puchi and Kuubox Share. Kuubox Puchi is a single-box subscription priced at 1,490JPY, while Kuubox Share is a two-box subscription priced at 2,980JPY, with a 1,000JPY discount on shipping.
Subscriptions are now open at kuubox.com
