The two live-action Chihayafuru movies will be making their premieres next year, and the staff of the upcoming live-action film adaptations of Yuki Suetsugu’s beloved shoujo manga series have announced that J-pop group, Perfume, will be performing the theme song for both movies.

All three members of Perfume, Yuka Kashino (Kashiyuka), Ayaka Nishikawa (A-chan), and Ayano Oomoto (Nocchi), who are admittedly huge fans of the manga, are seen posing with the first movie’s poster while holding copies of the manga. While Perfume are huge fans of the series, the mangaka, Yuki Suetsugu, is admittedly a huge fan of the group in turn. The mangaka said that she finds the group electrifying and says in a comment that their songs make her want to dance,

Titled “FLASH,” the song will contain lyrics which are inspired by the game of Karuta, which any Chihayafuru fan will know, is central to the manga’s story.

The first film is titled Chihayafuru: Kami no Ku, and it is slated to premiere on March 2016. The second movie, titled Chihayafuru: Shimo no Ku, will be shown in Japanese cinemas one month later in April 2016. As revealed earlier, the movie’s key visual image is inspired by the manga‘s second Tankoubon volume.
