We’ve seen a lot of heated kitchen battles and masterful cooking skills in the cooking anime, Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma. With season 2 already confirmed, a special event for the anime will be held, and it will feature the lovable Food Wars voice cast going head-to-head against one another in a series of Shokugeki. The event is called Shokugeki! Maihama-sai (“Food Wars! Maihama Fest”), and it will be held at the Maihara Amphitheater in Urayasu on 28 February. It will feature the seiyuus from the anime, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Soma), Risa Taneda (Erina), Minami Takahashi (Megumi), Natsuki Hanae (Takumi), Yuki Ono (Isami), Saori Oonishi (Hisako), Takahiro Sakurai (Satoshi) and Junichi Suwabe (Akira).

A series of videos have been released to promote the event, and it features the seiyuus trying to show how good they are with cooking. One of the most popular characters in the anime is Erina Nakiri, and she is voiced by Risa Taneda. Can she live up to her character’s reputation? Here she is trying to imitate her character’s “God Tongue” by trying to differentiate the various sauces provided by co-star, Minami Takahashi:

Meanwhile, Minami Takahashi’s character, Megumi, is always the victim of Soma’s weird gross food experiments. And just like Megumi, the poor seiyuu is forced to partake in some weird food combinations, courtesy of Yoshitsugu Matsuoka. Dried sardines in strawberry jam and peanut butter, now that sounds like something Soma would force Megumi to eat!

Yuuki Ono, the voice behind Isami Aldini, meanwhile tries to show us his knife skills… which he clearly lacks. Yup, he is definitely no Isami on the chopping board. But then again, in his defense, the mezzaluna, the Aldinis’ favorite Italian knife, is something difficult to use and really needs some getting used to.

Finally, we have Natsuki Hanae, who voices Isami’s twin brother, Takumi, who does some trash talking against his Shokugeki opponents, just like, you know, what Takumi would do. For his part, Hanae demonstrates the proper way to light a stove.

Well, hopefully, Natsuki Hanae can back that tough talk come 28 February, as he will certainly be having his hands full as he tries to cook against the other seiyuus. Tickets for the event will be sold at 5,900 yen. Meanwhile, not much details have been announced about the second season of Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma, so just stay tuned here at AFA Channel for more announcements.
