Hello Kitty has had plenty of awesome and often unexpected collaborations through the years, from Mazinger Z to Monogatari, and even The Ring’s Sadako. Her latest collaboration is certainly unexpected, as Sanrio’s iconic not-a-cat mascot is seen cosplaying Izumi Hoshi, the teenage yakuza boss who fights with a sub-machine gun, all while wearing her sailor school uniform.

The new collaboration, called “Hoshi Izumi x Hello Kitty,” is promoting the new Sailor Suit and Machine Gun: Graduation film, starring Rev. from DVL. idol and singer, Kanna Hashimoto. And since Hello Kitty is known to be a very family-friendly character, it was revealed that the gun she is sporting is a toy gun, as opposed to the one Kanna Hashimoto’s character is usually carrying around.

The movie is actually a sequel from the 1981 Japanese cult classic, Sailor Suit and Machine Gun, which follows a Japanese school girl who suddenly becomes the head of a notorious Yakuza clan, and must defend herself against rival gangsters with a sub-machine gun.

The collaboration will feature Hello Kitty (as Izumi Hoshi) in various promotional merchandise, from notepads to clear files, and from ball point pens to towels. The movie is slated to premiere in Japan on 5 March 2016.
