In Akihabara, seeing a Super Sonico cosplayer hand out flyers at night is a normal sight. However, if you throw in a Japanese urban legend known as the Kuchisake-onna, or the Slit-Mouthed Woman, and all hell breaks loose.
Japan-based YouTubers Prank Pirates have recently released a new prank video, which focuses on one Super Sonico cosplayer turning into the Kuchisake-onna, or the Slit-Mouthed Woman. At first, she starts out as a normal cosplayer you usually find in the streets of Akiba, handing out flyers.
That face alone kinda scares me, and once she takes off that face, it reveals that she really is a Slit-Mouthed Woman, which is a Japanese urban legend which dates back from the 1970’s about a woman who sports a Glasgow Smile, much like Heath Ledger’s version of the Joker from The Dark Knight, except that her scars are still bloody.
And roaming the streets of Akihabara, she goes on and scares foreigners and curious passers-by.
Scaaaaaaaaaaaary! And where else could you pull off a cosplay prank like this, other than Akihabara?
