Japanese and Taiwanese companies are teaming up for a massive Wuxia-style puppet show project titled Thunderbolt Fantasy – Dōng lí jiàn yóujì (“Sword Travels from the East”).
The companies involved in this project include Good Smile Company, Nitroplus, and Pili International Multimedia. Here is the trailer:
The script and story, and the show itself, will be written and supervised by Nitroplus’s most infamous writer ever, Gen Urobuchi. He who has earned both the ire, awe, and respect of fans and critics alike, for his works like Psycho-Pass, Madoka Magica, Fate/ Zero, and Aldnoah.Zero.
Urobuchi has been known to be very “sadistic” in his treatment of characters, from Madoka Magica’s Mami Tomoe all the way to Aldnoah.Zero’s Slaine Troyard, and has been known for “Butchering” characters that fans have lovingly nicknamed him “Urobutcher.”
The puppetry and camera work for the show will be done by Pili International Multimedia, while renowned Japanese figure makers, Good Smile Company, will be advising the modeling done for the puppets. Nitroplus is the company in-charge of character design.
Meanwhile, here are the main characters and their seiyuus:
Kousuke Toriumi as the voice of Lin Xue Ya
Junichi Suwabe as the voice of Shang Bu Huan
Mai Nakahara as the voice of Dan Fei
Tomokazu Seki as the voice of Mie Tian Hai
The Wuxia fantasy puppet show, Thunderbolt Fantasy’s theme song, will be performed by none other than T.M. Revolution, and the show itself is slated to premiere this summer 2016 season.
