Utada Hikaru at her Wild Love concert before her Hiatus.

After a 6 years hiatus that saw her releasing only one song, “Sakura Nagashi“, for the 3rd Evangelion Movie in 2012, Hikki is back!

Officially announcing her return as well as a new release, the theme song for an upcoming NHK TV series “Toto Nee-chan” to be debuted on the 4th of April, titled “Hantaba o Kimi ni” as mentioned on her official site. Utada Hikaru will also be contributing a theme song for NTV’s “News Zero” program.

To commemorate her return, a twitter hashtag #おかえりHIKKI is currently being promoted. Tweets featuring the hashtag will be featured on Project New(U)-Turn‘s site as part of the campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise money via the sales of the Utada Hikaru’s music at participating merchants like Itunes, Mora, and etc, with a portion of the proceeds, will, in turn, be donated to fund the replanting efforts.

Project NEW(U)-Turn is an effort to replant Sakura Trees in the areas affected by the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011, It will be working with the non-profit organisation, Sakura Namiki Network.

More interestingly, the site will be tracking the progress with a Sakura Tree, at currently it is at 30% to full bloom. Something that the organisers hoped to achieve by the fourth of April along with the debut of the new songs.

Well, allow me to go doing some shopping on Itunes and contribute to the blooming Sakura Tree!
