The iDOLM@STER franchise is one of the most recognizable 2D idol series from Japan, and its popularity rivals that of Love Live!. The series has reached worldwide popularity, so much so that they are making a live-action show based on Bandai Namco’s bestselling video game franchise… in South Korea!

Tentatively titled The [email protected], not much details have been revealed, except for the fact that they are casting for 15 idols, and the auditions will begin on mid-May 2016. It will also be certain that none of the characters from the other iDOLM@STER series such as the original 765-Pro all-stars, the Cinderella Girls, Side-M, and Million Live, will be appearing in this South Korean Show.

While the new show will be following the original format of the franchise, which follows the growth of a group of idols, their friendship with one another, and their rise to being the “top idol,” the South Korean version will be following the country’s own idol trends, production, and entertainment industry, which are slightly different from that of Japan’s.

The project is fully supported by Bandai Namco Entertainment, which of course is responsible for the franchise, having released the first games for arcades back in 2005. These arcade games would later spawn other spin-off games, such as Cinderella Girls and Million Live, as well as sequels, and several anime adaptations, which even includes a not-so-well-received mecha anime called Xenoglossia, as well as The iDOLM@STER Movie, which was actually a box office success.

I wonder what would happen if they would do an [email protected]?
