Tenchi Muyo is back with a “Fourth Season,” and the anime’s official website has been updated to reveal a brand new key visual featuring the characters. This new visual is illustrated by none other than original character designer, Masaki Kajishima, who is also serving as the anime’s overall director and is credited as the creator of the series.
Titled Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki Dai-yon-ki, this “fourth season” is actually an OVA series, and not a TV anime series, with the official website announcing that the first OVA is being released sometime in the autumn of this year. The website also revealed that Studio AIC will be producing the animation, with Hidetoshi Takahashi directing the OVAs.
Hideki Shirane, who has worked with Kajishima plenty of times, is going to write the scripts, while Takeshi Oda will be adapting Kajishima’s original character design for animation. The sound director for the anime is Yasunori Honda.
The official website also announced that the OVAs’ ED song will be titled “Shake the DiCE,” and it will be performed by Serena Kozuki, who will be releasing the song as a single on 28 June 2016. It has also been confirmed that three cast members from the Ai: Tenchi Muyo! anime shorts (as well as the original 90’s anime series) will be returning to reprise their roles, and they are:
- Masami Kikuchi (Captain Tsubasa’s Shingo Aoi and Ah! My Goddes’s Keiichi Morisato) as Tenchi Masaki
- Ai Orikasa (Gundam Wing’s Quatre Raberba Winner and Sakura Wars’ Ayame Fujieda) as Ryouko
- Haruhi Nanao (Yu-Gi-Oh!’s Mai Kujaku) as Aeka
This will be the first Tenchi Muyo Ryo Ohki anime in a decade, with the last OVA being released back in 2005.
