Ladies and gentlemen, the long wait is ALMOST over! During a live reading event for Attack on Titan called Shinkeki Matsuri, whereby cast members read lines from the anime, it was announced that Hajime Isayama’s worldwide bestselling manga is getting itself a second anime adaptation. Yes it’s official! Attack on Titan Season 2 is in the works!

According to the event’s announcement, Attack on Titan Season 2 is slated for spring 2017, the very same season when the original anime was aired. They also revealed a new visual, which features Titan Eran, Mikasa, and Armin ready to take on the Armored Titan and the Colossal Titan.

They also announced that the original cast of characters (the ones who survived anyway) will be returning. They are:

  • Yuuki Kaji as Eren Yeager
  • Yui Ishikawa as Mikasa Ackerman
  • Marina Inoue as Armin Arlert
  • Kishou Taniyama as Jean Kirschtein
  • Yu Shimamura as Annie Leonhardt
  • Yu Kobayashi as Sasha Braus
  • Shiori Mikami as Christa Lentz
  • Hiro Shimono as Conny Springer
  • Yoshimasa Hosoya as Reiner Braun
  • Tomohisa Hashizume as Bertholt Hoover
  • Saki Fujita as Ymir
  • Hiroshi Kamiya as Levi
  • Daisuke Ono as Erwin Smith
  • Romi Park as Hange Zoe
  • Keiji Fujiwara as Hannes

Also revealed is the staff, and they are lead by chief director, Tetsuro Araki, who is supervising the anime’s new director, Masashi Koizuka. Kyoji Asano will serve as the character designer, while Tasuko Kobayashi is in-charge of series composition.  WIT STUDIO will once again be producing the animation.
