The Digimon franchise has had a very special relationship with the late Japanese singer, Kouji Wada, who passed away earlier this year. To honour his memory, they will be releasing a very special memorial album for the late singer, who has touched many hearts with his song, Butter-fly, which served as the original Digimon Adventure anime’s OP song.

The album, titled “Digimon Song Best of Koji Wada“,will be sold exclusively during the Digimon Fes. fan event in Tokyo, to be held on 31st July. Fittingly, Angemon, and ANGEL-type Digimon, was chosen to be on the cover. Angemon is not only an angel, it is also one of the late artiste’s most favourite Digital Monsters.

Collecting Kouji Wada’s various songs which have served as themes for the various Digimon anime, including Digimon Adventure 01, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers, Digimon Frontier, Digimon: Data Squad and Digimon Fusion, the album will be sold for 1,852 yen. Event-goers who spend more than 2,000 yen worth of Digimon CDs will also be getting this free B2-size poster:

Kouji Wada passed away last April due to cancer. The announcement of his passing saddened the entire Japanese entertainment industry, as well as the Digimon fandom.
