During the Anime Expo event, Aniplex of America debuted the very first trailer for Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale, and it was released with Japanese language and English subtitles.
Aniplex also confirmed that there will be an international release for the film, though did not go into details. They also revealed that the movie will premiere in Japan on Spring 2017.
And they did not just reveal the first trailer, but also a new visual:
The video also confirmed that A-1 Pictures will once again be producing the animation, with Tomohiko Ito directing. Series creator, Reki Kawahara is also writing the story for the movie, which is set after the events of Mother’s Rosario. The original cast from the TV anime are also making their return, and they are:
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Kirito
- Haruka Tomatsu as Asuna
- Rina Hidaka as Silica
- Ayahi Takagaki as Lisbeth
- Miyuki Sawashiro as Sinon
- Hiroaki Hirata as Klein
- Hiroki Yasumoto as Agil
- Koichi Yamadera as Akihiko Kayaba
