The official Yowamushi Pedal website has revealed new details on their upcoming prequel movie, Yowamushi Pedal: Spare Bike. According to the website, the film will be following the anime’s two senior climbers, Yuusuke Makishima and his rival, Jinpachi Toudou, in two separate stories which take place before the events of the first TV anime.
The film will be split into two parts, with the first part following a rookie Makishima trying to fit into his new cycling team, Sohoku, but people are not impressed with him. The second story focuses on Toudou in middle school, as he becomes interested in road racing.
Yowamushi Pedal TV anime director, Osamu Nabeshima, will be returning to helm the project over at TMS Entertainment. Showtarou Morikubo reprises his role as the “Peak Spider” himself, Yuuseke Makishima, while Tetsuya Kakihara will be reprising his role as Makishima’s rival, Toudou. The film is slated to premiere on 9th September.
