The upcoming 38th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine will be revealing a very special announcement, which they have been teasing since the Jump double issue #36/37 two weeks ago. An early look at the next issue has revealed what that special announcement is, and it’s not a new anime as most fans previously believed.

According to the early look, a live-action film adaptation for Tite Kubo’s bestselling manga has been green-lit, and it is slated to be screened starting 2018. The movie will star Sota Fukushi as the protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki.

Bleach creator Tite Kubo is quoted as saying he, as the original creator, will assist with the production as much as he can so that the movie is not only enjoyable for new fans but satisfy long-time ones, too.

“My only concern is perhaps the hair color,” Kubo wrote. “If that color is in the live-action movie, it’d be strange, so I wonder what they’re going to do!”

When the “special announcement” was teased in the previous issue, fans speculated that it would be a new TV anime, and they will finally be adapting the final arc. However, it is not so, as they revealed the new live-action movie instead. So what do you think of the live-action movie?
