During a press conference for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Warner Brothers and TOHO have revealed that Part 4 of Hirohiko Araki’s bestselling shounen manga series, Diamond is Unbreakable, is getting itself a live-action film adaptation. The movie will be starring Kento Yamazaki in the lead role as Jousuke Higashikata.

But since this is part 4, there will be two Jojos in the story, and Honey and Clover actor, Yusuke Iseya, will be playing the role of the one and only Jotaro Kujo. They will be joined by:

  • Nana Komatsu as Yukako Yamagishi
  • Ryunosuke Kamiki as Kouichi Hirose
  • Masaki Okada as Keichou Nijimura
  • Takayuki Yamada as Anjuurou Katagiri
  • Mackenyu as Okuyasu Nijimura
  • Alisa Mizuki as Tomoko Higashikata
  • Jun Kunimura as Ryouhei Higashikata

The film will be directed by live-action Terraformars’ Takashi Miike, who was so excited about the project that he wasn’t able to sleep for three days when he was offered the job.

Even though the anime and manga were set in Japan, filming will be done in Spain, particularly in the town of Sitges, which the cast chose as the setting for Morioh Town. And even though filming will be done in Spain, it was revealed that the reason why they chose Part 4 was because it focused on a Japanese character in a Japanese setting. The irony.

The live-action Jojo film is officially titled JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond wa Kudakenai Dai-Ichi-Shou, and it was  revealed that since Part I is very long, the staff have looked into the possibility of making sequels.
