The series of earthquakes which rocked Southern Japan last April, particularly Kumamoto and Oita prefectures, have displaced thousands of people in the area. Many still haven’t returned to their normal lives. However, Sanrio is doing something to help with this particular video:

For every ONE view that the video will get on YouTube, Sanrio will donate 1 yen to the victims. It wishes the affected people well, and urges people to donate, and suggests that using Sanrio Friendship Club points will also help.

The company, which owns the rights to many of Japan’s most iconic mascot characters, including Hello Kitty and My Melody, has helped victims of disasters before, including the Great Japanese Earthquake of 2011, as well as the 2010 Earthquake in Haiti.
