While people are still reveling in Makoto Shinkai’s latest anime film, another Japanese animation great is preparing his next work. He is none other than Mamoru Hosoda, who recently sat down with the Associated Press for an interview, where he talked about his plans for his next film.

In that interview, he said that after tackling the theme of motherhood in Wolf Children, and then fatherhood in The Boy and the Beast, his latest project would still be centering around family members, this time tackling the relationships between siblings. However, Hosoda stressed that his next film, set to be released in 2018, is still top secret.

Like Makoto Shinkai, Hosoda has also been dubbed as “The Next Hayao Miyazaki,” and in that interview, he revealed that he ain’t exactly happy being called that, stating “There are as many angles are there are directors, and we must enjoy that diversity.”

The director is known for his many legendary works, like The Girl Who Leaped Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, and his latest one, the Boy and the Beast.
