Hayao Miyazaki is now retired… sort of. He has retired from making films, though he still makes a few animated shorts for the Ghibli museum, including a 3D CG one titled Boro the Caterpillar. Japanese TV channel, NHK, is doing a TV special on Miyazaki and how he made Boro the Caterpillar.

However, the great Hayao Miyazaki ain’t exactly a 3D CG director, as he’s more known for 2D anime. The TV special takes a look at how he shifts to this new form of animation, as well as his struggles in mastering it. But then again, this is the one and only Hayao Miyazaki we’re talking about.

The TV special will air in Japan via NHK on 13 November 2016. It will also include an interview with the man himself, which will also be his first interview in two years, following his retirement from doing feature-length films back in 2013.
