Before the latest Marvel Movie, Doctor Strange, hits theaters in Japan in January, Kodansha has revealed that they will be releasing a prequel manga for the film inside the pages of their Weekly Shounen Magazine, the same magazine which serializes Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail.
The prequel manga, titled “Doctor Strange: Episode 0”, will be illustrated by Chiba Tetsuya Award-winning mangaka, Haruichi, who also admits he is a huge fan of Marvel. The manga will follow brilliant neurosurgeon, Stephen Strange, before he dabbled in the mystic arts.
Kodansha has had a long relationship with Marvel, which includes a crossover with Attack on Titan, and several superhero artworks by some of their mangaka. They even set up a new manga award for aspiring mangaka together.
