Voting for the Fan Award for one of Japan’s most prestigious anime awards have now opened, as fans can now vote for their favorite anime online.

To be able to enter, anime have to be shown from 18 October 2015 – 15 October 2016. Fans can vote for over 500 works, from kimi no na wa to Mr. Osomatsu, to the current voting leader, Yuri on Ice!, as TV Anime, OVA, and animated films are all included. Fans can vote here: https://vote.animefestival.jp/however, they can only vote once as any secondary vote would become invalid.

  6. High Speed: Free! Starting Days

  9. Yu Gi-Oh! THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS
  10. Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans

Fan voting will only be until 16th December 2016, with the winner will then announced during the festival itself, which will be held from 10 – 13 March 2017.  The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is co-hosting the awards, along with the The Association of Japanese Animations.

The prestigious Anime of the Year Award, which has been given to some of the best anime of the year, is also handed out during the event. Attack on Titan, The Wind Rises, Summer Wars, Spirited Away, Gundam SEED, and of course, FROZEN, which has surprised many non-Japanese anime fans, have all won the Anime of the Year award. The award is divided into two different categories with nominees winning either the TV anime or the animated film prize.

The other prizes include Best Director, Best Original Story, Best Screenplay, and many more, including the various Competition Winning Programs which are open to international films.
