For decades, Dragon Ball fans have treated Yamcha as the Magikarp of the franchise. Always being described as weak, the poor guy has been featured in memes to highlight his own weakness. But it seems that he’s about to catch his big break!

Fresh off of his starring role in the latest episode of Dragon Ball Super, Shonen Jump + revealed that he will be starring in his own spin-off manga, which is titled Dragon Ball Gaiden: Tensei Shitara Yamcha Datta Ken (Dragon Ball Side Story: The Case of Being Reincarnated as Yamcha). The title is a parody of Fuse’s Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken (The Case of Being Reincarnated as a Slime) novel series.

Dragon Garow Lee did the artwork and story for this hilarious spin-off manga and Akira Toriyama is credited as the creator. The manga follows a young boy who suddenly gets reincarnated as Yamcha after falling down the stairs. Armed with knowledge about the events of the Dragon Ball manga in his past life, this new Yamcha aims to make Yamcha the new hero of the story. Now imagine what might happen if it’s Yamcha who did all the stuff Goku did…

However, that might also mean that there would be no more Dead Yamcha memes. The manga’s first chapter is now available for free via Shonen Jump +, though its in Japanese.
