I was in a state of partial disbelief when I met KOTOKO in person

To give a little backstory to the former statement, I first chanced upon her songs sometime back in 2011 when I was playing BLAZBLUE on  PSP. Ever since then, she has been on my radar as she continued to sing for notable anime series such as Shakugan no Shana; To Love-Ru; Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen and many more.

Most recently, KOTOKO did a collaboration with ALTIMA for the anime movie – Accel World: INFINITE∞BURST. Alongside “PLASMIC FIRE”, the theme song for the Accel World film was “TRUE BLUE” – the opening theme for the console version of BLAZBLUE: CENTRALFICTION.

It should also be noted that KOTOKO wrote the lyrics for most, if not all the songs she sang for, thus a testament to her singer-songwriter status.

Having been in the scene for over 10 years, it’s amazing how she has continued to shine in a competitive and rapidly-changing industry. Her performance at the concert was definitely an eye-opener for all of you, we hope that she comes back next year.

The Interview,

To kick off the interview, we asked about her impression of Singapore as it is her first time here.

Next, we also asked about sightseeing and food, receiving a relatively standard answer (anyone cares to make a quick guess on that?).

Amongst other questions, we quizzed KOTOKO on her favourite released song as well as her experiences when collaborating with ALTIMA. Throughout the interview, KOTOKO provided insightful answers, and you can check out the entirety of the interview in the video below.
