Many consider the Academy Awards, or the Oscars, as the highest award in all of film. Recently, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences have announced their nominees, including Best Animated Feature. A lot of films were up for consideration, but only five were nominated, and they are:

While Studio Ghibli and Michaël Dudok de Wit’s The Red Turtle got nominated, many fans were disappointed with the exclusion of Makoto Shinkai’s your name. Similarly, another anime movie was not nominated, and that is Miss Hokusai.

The awarding ceremony, which will announce the winners, will be held on 26th February at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Congratulations to The Red Turtle for getting nominated!
