During the second day of the Macross Delta concert,”Walkure ga Tomaranai”, they announced that the franchise will be launching their 35th anniversary celebrations. They also announced that there will be a new Macross TV anime as part of the franchise’s anniversary.

However, they didn’t reveal any other details about this new anime aside from it airing in 2018. The concert, however, featured plenty of guests, including Macross veterans like Melody Chubak, Megumi Nakajima, Yuuma Uchida, and Asami Seto.

As for the 35th anniversary celebrations, it would also include other projects and even more toys. They would also be holding several live events, a concert, a VR concert, and a projection mapping display. They also announced that they will be doing a special Macross-themed planetarium.

Super Dimension Fortress Macross, which became known in the US as Robotech, first debuted in 1982. It spawned plenty of sequels and a prequel, including Macross 7, Frontier, and Delta. Many even say that the original helped spawn the idol genre in anime, first introducing us to Lynn Minmay.
