While they are taking down that life-size RX-78-2 in Odaiba, ChinaJoy, Heitao, and Hideaki Anno’s Studio Khara constructed one gigantic Evangelion statue.

The ChinaJoy Gaming Expo in Shanghai features one gigantic statue of Neon Genesis Evangelion’s Eva-01, and it has finally made its official debut on 3 January 2017.

The statue holds the spear of Longinus, which measures 24.8m. This adds to the statue’s overall height, and because of this, the statue won a Guinness World Record for being the tallest Evangelion statue in the world.

The 24.8m statue trumps the 6m one built in Hakone, the supposed site of Neo-Tokyo, which is the setting of the anime. The Guinness certificate listed Studio Khara as the owners in cooperation with the Shanghai Character License Administrative Corporation (SCLA) and Heitao Interactive.
