Konami may have already given Castlevania the pachinko treatment (which usually spells the death of a Konami franchise), but apparently, Netflix still hasn’t given up on the franchise yet. This is because the video service is actually planning their own series based on the Konami video game.

Netflix recently released a Press Release for their upcoming programming slate. This includes this very stinger:

Castlevania Season 1, Part 1 Coming to Netflix in 2017

Frederator Networks, which is behind Adventure Time, has been attached with the project, along with producer Adi Shankar. This is because Shankar announced on Facebook last year that he’s planning on making a “super violent” Castlevania series. His 2016 announcement said:

“Breaking News: I’m producing a super violent Castlevania mini-series with my homies Fred Seibert and Kevin Klonde. It’s going to be dark, satirical, and after a decade of propaganda it will flip the vampire sub-genre on its head.”

However, there is still no official word from Netflix if this is the same project as the one they announced. As of writing, they still haven’t revealed much details on the new series.
