Hideaki Anno is the man behind the Evangelion franchise, as well as Shin Godzilla’s co-director. Both of his works recently held an orchestral concert in Shibuya on 22nd March titled Shin Godzilla vs Evangelion Symphony. During the event, Anno went on stage and made a special announcement regarding his two works.

The famous Japanese director said that he “would like to tell the audience to expect the next instalment of both Shin Godzilla and Evangelion movies”. However, Anno didn’t reveal much details. What this announcement only confirms is that both Evangelion and Shin Godzilla are getting sequels.

Several members of the audience attended the concert event, and they were the ones who revealed Anno’s announcement. This includes Australian anime distributor, Madman, which revealed the announcement via twitter.

As for the event itself, Rei’s seiyuu, Megumi Hayashibara, as well as Shin Godzilla actor, Satoshi Matsuo, hosted it. The concert featured several big name performers, including the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Yoko Takahashi, who performed Cruel Angel’s thesis, also served as a special guest.
