The Japan Media Arts Festival celebrates entertainment, manga, animation, and of course, the arts. Now, the festival has revealed the winners of their respective awards. Without further ado, the winners for the Japan Media Arts Festival Awards are:

  • Art: “Interface I” by Germany’s Ralf Baecker
  • Entertainment: “Shin Godzilla” by Japan’s Shinji Higuchi and Hideaki Anno
  • Manga: “BLUE GIANT” by Japan’s Shinichi Ishizuka
  • Animation: “your name” by Japan’s Makoto Shinkai

4,034 works from 88 countries and regions all vied to be chosen, but the festival’s committee only chose these four works. The NTT InterCommunication Center and the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery, as well as several other locations, will be exhibiting these works sometime in September. All four works also receive a grand prize of 600,000 yen.

Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs and The National Art Center organise the festival every year.
