Scarlett Johansson is ready for action as The Major for the live-action Ghost in the Shell film. But as the movie hits Japan in April, three of the original main cast members from the 1995 original are also gearing up. That’s because the original seiyuu for Batou, Togusa, and Motoko Kusanagi, will be returning for the Japanese dubbed version!

Akio Ohtsuka will once again be voicing Batou, just like he did back in 1995. Meanwhile, legendary seiyuu, Kouichi Yamadera, will also be returning as Togusa. Finally, Motoko Kusanagi’s original seiyuu, Atsuko Tanaka, will be voicing ScarJo’s character, The Major.

Mamoru Oshii, who directed the 1995 anime film, also commented on the return of the trio. He said that it’s been a while since they’ve voiced these characters, so they should really voice them as they see fit. He then added that they’re all pros, so there’s nothing to really worry about for the Japanese dub. In fact, he added that it’s really something to look forward to.

The film will premiere in the United States on 31st March, before it hits Japan on 7th April. Dreamworks and Paramount are co-producing the film, which stars Scarlett Johansson as the Major. The staff also revealed the film’s Japan-exclusive poster, which features Section 9.

The film also stars several big-name Japanese actors, including Beat Takeshi, Kaori Momoi, Rila Fukushima, Yutaka Izumihara, and Tawanda Manyimo. In fact, it boasts an international cast, which includes Pilou Asbæk as Batou and Michael Pitt as the Laughing Man. Rupert Sanders is directing the film.
