After FIVE long years of waiting, the gears are finally moving for the next Rebuild of Evangelion project. According to a tweet by Studio Khara’s official twitter page, @khara_inc, they were about to hold a meeting about the anime’s production. The tweet then says that they are now working hard in the anime’s production.

This announcement really comes after Khara founder and Evangelion creator, Hideaki Anno, told concert-goers to look forward to the next Shin Godzilla sequel, as well as the next Rebuild of Evangelion film.

Anno, who recently directed Shin Godzilla, founded Studio Khara in 2006, after leaving Gainax. The studio then produced the first three Rebuild of Evangelion films in succession. Evangelion 1.0 premiered in 2007, Evangelion 2.0 in 2009, and finally, Evangelion 3.0 in 2012. They then revealed the next film, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0, back in 2012, but they didn’t reveal any news regarding it. Anno did admit he was planning to return in 2014, but that didn’t come to fruition. Hopefully, this news really means that they are really moving forward with the production.
