Nihon TV reports on an unfortunate accident at the venue of the upcoming Shingeki no Kyojin stage play that left wire stunt coordinator Kazutaka Yoshino dead.

Yoshino allegedly fell thirty feet from the ground where he was suspended in the air at the Maihama Amphitheater in Chiba. He was personally inspecting the wires that held performers aloft when his equipment failed.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and tried to stabilize him during transport the hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Yoshino was considered one of the top aerial performers in Japan, and was a former member of Cirque du Soleil. He was in charge of the crucial stunt sequences involving mid-air acrobatics in the highly anticipated stage play.

The police are investigating the scene of the accident, with the play’s production team giving their full cooperation. There has been no word from the play’s management if their opening dates will be affected by the tragedy.
