Earlier this week, Nintendo announced that the hit series Monster Hunter will be making its Switch debut with Monster Hunter XX (Monster Hunter Double Cross).

Monster Hunter XX was released in March of this year, and acted as the expansion to Monster Hunter X(Monster Hunter Cross). The latter was launched under the name Monster Hunter Generations outside of Japan.

The Monster Hunter series is a huge hit in Japan, with entries dominating sales for months. The announcement that Nintendo’s new hybrid console will be housing the series was very well received. Nintendo’s stock saw “a 5.48 percent rise from the day before,” according to a CNBC report, allowing the company to hit a nine-year high.

Monster Hunter XX will be launched on the Switch on the 25th of August 2017. However, there is yet to be news of a western release on any console for the West.
