Chiho Saito’s Revolutionary Girl Utena manga has changed the landscape not only for manga, but anime as well. It was also a “Revolutionary” (pun intended) series not only for the shoujo genre, but also the yuri genre. Now, as it makes Chiho Saito celebrates her 35th anniversary as a mangaka, her revolutionary manga will also be making its return.

Shogakukan’s Flower Magazine will be running the new manga for its September 2017 issue. However, they didn’t reveal if this return will just be one extra chapter or if we’ll expect more in the future. Flower Magazine will also feature an interview with Saito herself. They will be releasing the September 2017 issue on 28th July 2017.

Aside from Saito’s 35th anniversary, the manga’s anime adaptation is also celebrating its 20th anniversary. Saito first launched Revolutionary Girl Utena back in 1996 via Ciao Magazine. The manga then went on to get its own anime adaptation in 1996, as well as an anime movie in 1999. Saito’s manga also inspired a 1998 video game for the Sega Saturn, as well various stage play adaptations. It would go on to become one of the most loved and iconic yuri and shoujo manga of all time.
