Square Enix has announced that they were releasing theĀ Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts III years ago. However, the release of these two games may still take some time according toĀ Square Enix president and CEO Yosuke Matsuda.

Matsuda just releasedĀ an outline of Square Enixā€™s financial briefings for the past fiscal year. There, the CEO revealed thatĀ ā€œThis slide shows our release lineup for FY2017/3 as well as for FY2018/3 and beyond. We plan to launch each of these upcoming titles in the next three years or so.ā€ The slide also included some big names, such as Dragon Quest XI and their upcoming game with Marvel comics.

This might mean that we won’t be expecting either of the two games until 2020. It’s already been a few years since they revealed either game as well. The company announcedĀ theĀ Final Fantasy VII Remake back in E3 2015, while they revealed Kingdom Hearts II during E3 2013. That’s a lot of waiting, but if they can give us geat games, then it’s definitely worth the wait.

Square Enix previously revealed that they will be releasing the FF7 Remake in multiple parts. It will retell the story of Cloud Strife and AVALANCHE as they take on the corrupt Shinra Corporation. Meanwhile, they will set Kingdom Hearts III afterĀ the events of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. It will also be the first game in the Kingdom Hearts series toĀ utilize Unreal Engine 4.
