With series like InuYasha, Kyoukai no RINNE, Urusei Yatsura, and of course, Ranma 1/2, mangaka Rumiko Takahashi brought plenty of pride to her home of Niigita Prefecture. And now that the prefecture’s own AKB48 sister group, NGT48, is celebrating its 1st anniversary, who better to illustrate the home video cover of  their 1st anniversary live, right? The cover features Takahashi’s first heroine, Lum Invader from Urusei Yatsura.

And apparently, it looks like Lum’s a huge NGT48 fan as well!  Now that’s quite an electrifying fan to have cheering you on, huh? That’s one huge Niigita-based collaboration right there, and the prefecture should be proud.

The home video release features their 1st anniversary live last 20th January , as well as their special performance last 10th January. The idol group started doing lives in their own theater last 10th January 2016. It goes on sale this 7th July, complete with that Rumiko Takahashi artwork of course.

As for the idol group themselves, they really came a long way. One of their first-year highlights include some members starring in the stage adaptation of Higurashi. And for the AKB48 Senbatsu Election, members Yuka Okino and Rie Kitahar even made it to the Top 10. And with Rumiko Takahashi and Lum backing them up, who knows what else they might achieve, right?
