The first review for Gintama life action Movie is out… And it doesn’t look good.

This is based on the review from “The Japan Times” titled <<Gross-out gags make ‘Gintama’ a miss>> by Mark Schilling. The article started with a statement that seemingly confirmed that Shun Oguri have a knack for choosing the wrong script.

Calling out the actor for his gross act of prospecting gold throughout the film and the general over the top loudness.

Quoting the article:

Directed by Yuichi Fukuda, a comic-action specialist (“Hentai Kamen: The Abnormal Crisis”), “Gintama” is another manga adaptation with too much plot, too many characters and too much emoting at full volume, as though “loud” equals “funny.” And playing the lazy swordsman hero Gintoki, Oguri spends much screen time with finger inserted in nostril prospecting for nose gold, one of several gross running gags.

Finally, a two-star rating was awarded to the film.

Perhaps, the writer just doesn’t know how to appreciate Japanese style of Comedy. And Shun-sama can definitely be good in movies too, Most of them can be quite a joker.

Some of his best works listed below,

  • Namba Mutta – Uchu Kyodai
  • Saburo – Nobunaga Concerto – The Movie
  • Akira Inami – Crisis
  • So Takakura – Tokyo Dogs
  • And more!

And based on recent trailers, the review might have just been a bit too harsh… You can read the review yourself on The Japan Times.
