It’s August — which means we only have a few days left til C3 AFA Jakarta! Scheduled for the 18th to the 20th of August 2017 at the JIEXPO in Jakarta’s Kemayoran district, expect only the best in anime, cosplay, and anisong! One of the artistes in the huge line up for I Love Anisong is none other than YouTube sensation kradness!

kradness is a multi-talented artiste who wears many hats: singer, producer, deejay, fashion designer, vlogger, and foodie! His schedule is usually packed, which is why we at WOW Japan feel honored and privileged to have him sit down for a few minutes to answer a few questions for his fans.

Will this be your first time in Indonesia? What is your image of the country?

This is the first time in my entire life that I will be headed for Indonesia! I have always imagined it as a warm tropical island. There are so many people who go to Bali for sightseeing and vacations from Japan.

How did you get your start as an artiste?

I started posting videos during my years as a student, when a friend who I used to go to karaoke often with suggested I try uploading stuff to video sites. After posting, I had unexpectedly received a lot of positive reactions, and rest is history.

Who is your biggest musical inspiration and why?

The artiste I currently admire the most is ZEDD. He studied classical piano from a young age, and he uses that knowledge and training to create cutting-edge music. He has created a lot of EDM tracks that are especially popular in the West,and just a few weeks ago he released the smash hit “Stay”. His popularity just keeps skyrocketing, and he is one of the most popular DJs in the world. I’ve been to one of his concerts, and you just feel one with the sound and the rhythm. As an artist and as a creator, I admire him in a way I cannot express with mere words.

Tell us something interesting about yourself – for example, you recently launched an apparel line, how was that experience? What is the easiest thing about designing clothes? What is the hardest thing?

I have always liked wearing clothes from various brands. In particular, I love streetwear brands. I often go to Tokyo’s Shibuya and Harajuku districts to buy clothes. Then one day I thought, “Won’t it be fun to design and make your own clothes?” — and that’s how I and the staff supporting me came up with the “REMERA” brand.

It’s a unisex brand, so I put a lot of thought in creating designs and shapes that can both ladies and gents can enjoy. Every season, we decide a brand theme to suit the season, before we can enter the production phase — and deciding on the theme is the most difficult step. I really want the origin and the meaning to suit the concept, I spend a lot of time thinking it over, but that’s also the most fun time for me.

There may not be any particularly easy tasks when making clothes; every step takes a certain amount of labor. You have to go over so many different scenarios in your head, but as a person who really loves clothes that’s also enjoyable for me.
