JJ Abrams, Paramount Pictures, and Bad Robot are turning Makoto Shinkai’s your name. into a live-action Hollywood film. So, aside from the expected JJ Abrams Lens Flares, how would the film look like exactly? Iidabashi no Futabachan mangaka, Ryoichi Yokoyama tried to guess as he made a parody manga about this new Hollywood version.

The manga features typical Japanese stereotypes of Americans, including thinking that New Orleans is rural. Well, let’s just say it’s a lot more metropolitan than most cities here in Asia. But that aside, it presents Mitsuha as a girl from New Orleans, while Taki hails from New York City. It presents Taki’s New York as a dangerous and drug-filled city when a few guys offer Mitsuha (as Taki) drugs. Meanwhile, it also presents the stereotypical American mean girl trope, but Taki (as Mitsuha) just beats them up.

They then continue body swapping but the two later realize that they love one another. But there’s this one problem I have with this… WHERE ARE THE JJ ABRAMS LENS FLARES?!

Genki Kawamura, the original anime’s producer, will be co-producing the Hollywood film alongside JJ Abrams and Lindsey Weber. Meanwhile, Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Eric Heisserer is penning the script. As for Makoto Shinkai himself, he said that he’s pretty excited to watch the Hollywood movie himself. He also said that it has a lot of potential and is looking forward to it.
