For 40 years, Nagoya TV (Metele) has been running their Anime Block, and featured a few classics. These classics also include Mobile Suit Gundam back in 1979. However, that historic Anime Block has run its course, as they will soon be ending its run.

According to Asahi Shimbun, one of Japan’s most respected newspapers, the network will be replacing it with a news program. They also mentioned that because of lower birth rates, the block has received lower ratings, prompting the network to cancel it. The cancellation will be taking effect in October 2017.

The Anime Block started back in 1977, with Sunrise’s first in-house anime project, Muteki Choujin Zambot 3. From 1998 onward, it ran every Saturday evening, and featured a variety of mecha, game, or hobby-related anime. These include the Brave series, B-Daman, Dinosaur King, and Battle Spirits.
